Syllabus
- Addition and subtraction
- Abacus: 2 – Digit of 5 rows ;
- 3 – Digit of 3 / 4 rows
- Mental: 1 / 2 – Digit of 5 rows
- Multiplication: 1- Digit by 1-Digit mental calculation
Skills acquired
- Images are fixed and constantly get changed for the duration of time they remain before disappearing.
- Concentration skills are further strengthened. The skills become available on-demand for the child, which is not so easy and normal for an untrained child.
- The computation that manipulates the mental images of the sliders enables the speed to advance, the speed in calculation reaches a new phase, though for mental computation the level is only a starting point.
- Hearing calculations are initiated and Listening becomes a skill that starts at the level.
- Finger movement exercise becomes intense.
- Brain stimulation – nerve ends of fingers through hands stimulate and activate both the left and right brain.
Course Duration
3 months*
*The student should work at home for a minimum of 10 – 15 minutes to practice/learn the skills.
Level Completion Certificate
The certificate will be issued immediately from the date of successful completion of the level, after completing the work in the prescribed books. It will roughly take 3 months to complete.
Image Flash
Image Flash is the activity that is done to give larger scope to the students to read Abacus slider images representing values using which the students can have extended practice and also better assessment of their skills in reading the values of images at a greater speed. Flash Cards were used earlier, but with the advent of the GEM Abacus program now the students can view an uncountable number of images. With the usage skills to read the constantly changing image values, students experience better challenges, enhancing their Visio-spatial memory skills that are necessary to perform better while doing faster and more accurate mental arithmetic skills by Abacus images. Speed and accuracy in performing Mental Arithmetic by Abacus images indirectly reflect their Concentration & Memory skills.
The Abacus Tutor during the Image Flash session alerts the students to focus on the activity of reading the values of slider images. After saying this, the Abacus tutor starts manipulating the sliders of the tool – GEM Abacus – Tutors continuously to make the students read the images concurrently and write down the number-value of each of those images flashed on the Tutor’s Abacus. They should write the number values on their notebooks. The Abacus Tutor generally writes down a series of numbers – Single, double, triple, 4 digits, as the case may be, on a paper first and during the activity, she would manipulate the sliders by looking at the numbers she wrote down which the students read and write.
